Case Study - Celsius, Knowle Manor
Knowle Manor utilises a SkySpace portal frame to create a beautiful space full of natural light coming from the traditional windows and Celsius glazed roof.
As a listed manor house, the conservatory system had to be a bespoke design that matched the original conservatory, while complementing the aesthetics of the manor. As a result, specific features such as the stone window surrounds and wooden windows had to be accommodated for in the overall design of the new conservatory.
The SkySpace portal frame was best suited for the job as the SkySpace team offers complete portal frame design and manufacturing for unique designs on a large scale as well as the ability to capture a traditional aesthetic with state of the art engineering and thermal capabilities.
The portal frame system is suited to projects sized from 30 to 2,000 m2. Working in congruence with Celsius One performance glass, the portal frame provides heat reflection and thermal insulation to maintain a comfortable temperature all year round – making it a perfect function space for every season.
Celsius glass provides 78% heat reflection and a U-value of just 1.0. The argon-filled glass also provides noise reduction from the outside elements, such as rainfall or traffic, for further comfort, and easy clean windows with a 10 year guarantee. These benefits made it the perfect glazing solution for this property as the venue will not have to worry about regular maintenance or inconsistent temperatures.
Overall, Celsius glazing has excellent thermal capabilities and has contributed to making this hospitality space a comfortable space for use all year around – just what’s needed for such a unique venue overlooking Exmoor National Park.
